Games for Windows – Multiplayer Becomes Free

By Nick De Bruyne

Microsoft announced on Tuesday that the multiplayer features for Games for Windows Live are now going to be free. Not only that, but they will be adding a new GFW marketplace near the end of they year that will rival the marketplace found on Xbox Live. The features that have been made free include: multiplayer achievements, matchmaking, cross-platform play with the Xbox 360, GFW voice chat, and more. What did they expect when they made features like this on the PC require a paid subscription when PC gamers have been enjoying free online gaming since the internet was made available and accessible. Not to mention that they are being trashed by Valve's Steam service, which allows many of the same features and some that it doesn't, but for nothing at all.

[Update] It appears that the source site was either confused, or downright lying, but either way this rumour has been squashed by Bioware themselves. So far nothing has been confirmed about exclusivity or not but it does appear that the trilogy part is true. Bioware’s head honcho, Ray Muzyka, has been talking to the ozzie mag Australian 360 about the …

doobiwan sent in this tip about the new super duper Netflix service for our American cousins. However while as cool as all of this is for them it does raise a huge question as to why we need to use our PC to add new titles to our queue? doobiwan’s take on this is that the 360 may be getting …
