PS3's Home has been pushed back to September

By Gavin Mannion

Sony has announced that the highly anticipated Home (Open Beta) has now been pushed back to Fall (September). Now unless I am mistaken this means that the Beta will have been running as a closed Beta for over a year before it becomes and Open Beta. Which I then presume will take another 6 months. That’s quite a hefty delay …

So we had that happy press release the other day from the UK saying that since the Xbox 360 price cut the sales had actually doubled. Well the real stats are in and they have in fact doubled, however they are still not good enough to overtake the PS3 or the Wii. In fact the new 360 sales plus the …

Mortal Kombat vs DC: First Leaked footage?

By Nick De Bruyne
April 22, 2008

This video appears to be the first leaked footage of the Mortal Kombat vs DC game that was recently announced. In this video you see Shao Kahn pitted against Batman in his Justice Lords outfit. This video, however, is about as fake as Pamela Anderson's breasts. This first video is done pretty well I must say, but once you view the rest of the videos (Link at the bottom), you start to wonder why the game is looking so damn terrible. I especially laughed when I watched the Superman video, which has a really horrible model of the man in steel and doesn't even have the superman logo on his chest, to make matters worse, he even pulls off Raiden's fly-through-the-air ability, otherwise known as the err, "hinda-bubble-air" or something like that. As an old-school fan of good ol' MK, I'm hoping that the first real footage will be decent, as the Mortal Kombat series died in my eyes somewhere around the release of Mortal Kombat 4. I was hoping that Midway would think of a great new way to retain the core feel of the original games, but still make something new ( Street Fighter 4 anyone?). However, the inclusion of the DC characters into the game makes me feel as if they have run out of ideas and are now turning to alternate methods of gaining attention. Sigh.

A really bad MGO video

I mentioned yesterday that I was suprised by the lack of news coming out of the MGO beta, well someone with a dodgy cellphone has answered my query. Behold, the only gameplay video of Metal Gear Online that I can find. Now I was mistaken about how the beta worked which was bad on my side, so I really have …

Gears of War 2: IGN interview with Mike Capps

By Nick De Bruyne

An IGN interview with Mike Capps, president of Epic Games this week talks about not only Gears of War 2, but his outlook on the industry as well as a the Gears of War comic! When asked by IGN, Capps goes on to discuss a few regrets that he had with the first Gears of War: "Oh wow. Well you know I think there's… everything we did was a series of compromises, right? Some compromises we wish we didn't have to make and those we did. I think the thing that was most painful to me as someone who cares a lot about the story and the continuity with the novels and the comic books and the movie and everything else. We did the first level at E3 and locked down the dialogue for that first level way before the whole game was done. So there's a whole lot of… you know, the game starts out, I don't know if you remember, but it says, "Hoffman pardoned everybody." And then right after there's a line that's, "Hoffman's gonna be pissed." And it doesn't make any sense at all and that's because it doesn't make any sense. And then trying to match everything around that is tough because, you know, the first bit of our game was a little inconsistent and that's frustrating. It's canon. That's the storyline and now we have to match it to that. But, you know, I'm pretty happy with it otherwise." It's an interesting interview, not only discussing Gears of War, but also what games he is looking forward too, why he thinks the Wii is evil and even a short discussion on Unreal Tournament III.
