Fantasy, action and straight-up weirdness was seen last week, leaving us tickled pink with games that we got to experience in Los Angeles. Here’s a look at the fifteen games, that have us excited for the future of the finest form of interactive entertainment that money can buy.

Earthfall knows exactly what kind of game it wants to be, and it’s absolutely confident in its construction and approach to a genre that has been well overdue for a resurrection.

Sekiro is also utterly gorgeous thanks to its Japanese palette that mixes bloodshed with mythology, and the increased sense of aggression and adventure makes for a very different game when compared to its predecessors that were developed at From Software. Naturally, I had some questions. Fortunately, From Software’s Yasuhiro Kitao and his translator had some answers for me, when we chatted during an E3 2018 session where a lengthy slice of Sekiro was shown off behind closed doors.

There’s a ton of work that goes into E3 every year to produce all of that content, work that results in many a sleepless night and boots being thrown at heads as we cracked on until the wee hours of the morning. I’m not complaining mind you, because I frigging love it.

Strange Brigade feels punchier and more livelier in its current incarnation, giving the game plenty of energy while it doubles down on its noirish adventure themes that provides a layer of humour that few games have these days.

Kalypso Media's Shadow's Awakening is a fantastic-looking RPG that'll scratch any traditional itch for the fantasy enthusiast. It'll also throw a few new ideas into the mix, as it gives players the ability to be a one-man demonic army.

One of the more interesting things I stumbled on at E3 this year was the Polymega, from PlayMaji. It’s a modular set-top retro console that’ll help collectors preserve their games from multiple as well as play them, without having to switch between systems all the time.

Various armies are sailing towards the new world, war is about to break out and the natives who first inhabited the land are about to find themselves caught in a bloody conflict that’ll require more than just some magic to win. It’s a story that we’ve seen unfold often enough in our own history, as Greedfall’s setup smacks of influences that range from its visuals being directly inspired by Baroque art to the core story that we were shown at E3 playing out like Pocahontas if Mel Gibson directed it.
