Even with a concussion, I don't think you could convince me to go to the cinemas this weekend.

The First Purge is entertaining enough to keep fans of the series interested but unlikely to appeal to newcomers to the franchise. As a thought-provoking horror movie, it falls flat, but as an action comedy, it certainly does enough. Unintentional or not.
Weekend box office report 3 - 5 August 2018: Mission: Impossible - Fallout cruised along at the top charts easily in its second week as newcomers Christopher Robin, The Spy Who Dumped Me, and The Darkest Minds all fell short of expectations. Meanwhile, in its 25th week on the charts, Marvel's Black Panther has managed to become only the 3rd film in history to cross the $700 mark domestically.
Weekend Box Office Report 27 - 29 July: Mission: Impossible - Fallout was always expected to take the top spot this weekend past, but as they normally do in this franchise, Tom Cruise and co has exceeded expectations with the largest domestic opening in the series' history and the second-largest of Cruise's career.
Weekend Box Office Report 20 - 22 July: It was the war of the sequels as eight out of ten entries on the charts were all follow-ups this weekend past, with The Equalizer 2 just narrowly beating out Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again to be the best of the lot.
Weekend Box Office Report 13 - 15 July: It looks like audiences are not yet tired of checking into Hotel Transylvania as the third film in the animated franchise topped the US charts as the Dwayne Johnson-led Skyscraper looks all rickety in third place. But way outside of the top 10 is where the weekend's biggest success story happened as comedian Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade became a huge limited release surprise hit.
Weekend Box Office Report 6 - 8 July 2018: 2015's Ant-Man was one of the smallest openings in the MCU, but sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp is not following suit as buzzes to a $76 million domestic debut. Meanwhile, Incredibles 2 is still shattering records!
Ever wonder how the admittedly absurd central concept behind the Purge films came to be? Well, The First Purge is to step back in time and reveal the origins of the hit horror-thriller series.
