Gears of War 'Last Breath Machinima' You don’t have to look very hard these days to find a bad machinima, however the good ones are very few and far between, “the Last Breath” is the first in a series by TheDuoGroup and follows Colonel Victor Hoffman’s most well known exploits and the team he pulled together to make it happen. …

Run DMC becomes one of those people who live in a white house

By Nick De Bruyne

To promote Wii Music in America, Nintendo have released this clip of Run DMC messing around with the game. Once again, I find it really strange that all of these overly happy Wii gamers all live in houses that have white interiors as well as an odd habit of being overly excited about life. It all goes to pot when the kids arrive and everyone is swept up in the amazing experience that is Wii Music. I know I sound incredibly sarcastic about the games value but I still just cannot see the game actually being played more than a few times in most households.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts Unreadable on SDTVs

If you’re a standard-definition television owner, you may want to consider canceling that pre-order for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.  Following the recent demo release, players using SDTVs noticed the text was difficult to read. This may remind you of a similar problem with Dead Rising, after which Capcom told fans they’d have to deal without a patch. A Rare community …

Activision looking to profit from User Content in GH: World Tour

By Nick De Bruyne

This has me kind of worried to be honest. Kotaku report that: "Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, noted during today's quarterly earnings conference call that the publisher may begin charging for user-generated songs uploaded through Guitar Hero World Tour's GH Tunes service. Kotick has previously stated that GH Tunes has the "potential" to be one of the 'credible alternatives to iTunes.' " I want to jump the gun here and say that Activision are just seeing nothing but dollar signs but we have yet to see if any of the users will be able to benefit from their own creations. If they don't then I am not going to be a happy camper. Profiting directly from content created by users is something that goes a little overboard in my opinion and the fact that the songs won't even have lyrics makes me wonder if it will all be worth it. As reported by Kotaku, Activision knows exactly how much money can be made from subscription based services such as World of Warcraft but I don't see this as a step forward for gamers at all. The content should be free and available to anyone who buys the game. If something like this catches on you could see scenarios were all publishers start charging for the ability to access user created content.

Exclusive: No Gears of War 2 "Flashback Map Pack" code for South Africans?

By Nick De Bruyne

in :  Gaming

Gow2NoMaps.jpg I really hope that I get proven wrong on this one because if I don't, it will be a pretty sad piece of news for us South Africans. As you all know, a few South Africans have been able to get their hands on copies of Gears of War 2 a few days early. I got the chance to speak to someone who has already gotten a copy and has played a sneaky multiplayer session with a few other of the lucky folks who got it early as well. The problem is that none of them could find the "Flashback Map Pack" code in their Gears of War 2 boxes. Say it ain't so. More after the jump. While there is a small chance that the early copies didn't have the codes, I very highly doubt that there is any difference between those copies and the ones that will be available on Friday. If this is true, it may mean that South Africans are going to completely miss out on the recreated maps from the original Gears of War. The truth is that South Africa isn't officially supported for Xbox Live but one would think that because we get the same stock as Europe, we would have the codes packaged in. At this point I am just sincerely hoping that the guys I spoke to were just hopelessly blind and couldn't find the codes that are actually there. Problem is that it isn't really likely. If we are lucky, the maps will become available over Xbox Live to everyone after a short while, even though a lot of South Africans will need to resort to special measures to bypass the region block on all of the Gears of War 2 content.

France has the right idea about piracy

As you may know by now I hate piracy, I feel it is just as bad as walking into CNA and stealing a game of the shelf and I am all for pirates being caught and punished. However I never expected any country to take it as seriously as France seems to be. According to a new law that is …

PS3 outsells the Wii in Japan

By Gavin Mannion

At first I thought life was returning to normal when I saw the PS3 had once again outsold the Xbox 360 in Japan but then I saw that it had outsold it’s other competitor as well and once again things were wrong in the world. Nothing outsells the Wii, I thought that was agreed by now. The latest sales stats …
