Left 4 Dead Opening Cinematic

By Nick De Bruyne

Just like with Dead Space, I seem to be sitting in yet another awkward situation. Left 4 Dead will now be the second game that I have ordered and am left wondering why in the hell I did it. As much as this game looks awesome, I really can't afford the extra laundry bills that are going to need to be paid because I will be browning all of my pants on a daily basis. Well, at least I will be able to do it with four of my friends, but judging from the look and quantities of the enemies, I'm not entirely sure if that makes me feel any better. The game releases on November 18th, and maybe if I have actually mustered up the courage to finish Dead Space by then, I will actually put the game into my console.

I'll have a soda and a copy of LittleBigPlanet

media.jpeg Here is something interesting. It seems that Universal Pictures and Sony have signed a deal to make a whole bunch of crazy new vending machines that will contain not Blu-rays, DVD's, games and all other sorts of media. At the moment, the vending machines are only planned for the UK. According to a report from Stuff.tv: "The PoP “entertainment vending machine” is a brand new venture between Universal Pictures and Sony entertainment to allow punters to grab their favourite DVDs, Blu-ray discs, PS3 games and downloads 24/7." At launch, they plan to have 150 movie titles available. What I think is really great is that you will also be able to download music and movies directly to your MP3/movie straight from the machine and even watch trailers to help you decide if the movie is worth the purchase. When they arrive, they will be available in cinemas, universities, gyms and some travel stations. A new era for software distribution maybe? All I know is that they had better have those things bolted down to the floor pretty tightly.

Lazygamer Hands-On Preview – Scene It – Xbox 360

By Nick De Bruyne

When I first got the early build of Scene-It , I have to admit that I wasn't really that excited to give it a go. I mean, I am quite a bit of a movie buff and I do love movie trivia, but these games weren't made for people like me were they? These games are made for those odd happy families that you see in Nintendo adverts aren't they, surely I would find it to be a little lame? Well, myself and a friend sat down to give it a go and we landed up being more than pleasantly surprised.... If you didn't know, Scene It is a trivia game similar to the Buzz series that has been seen in the past, except with a focus on movies. The game usually comes with four buzzer devices that allow players to hit the big red button and then select their answer with one of the colour coded buttons. We didn't get any buzzers for the early code, so we had to make do with the standard Xbox 360 controller. You go through a variety of multiple choice questions that are presented to you in a number of ways. There are complete movie scenes that play out, followed by questions about the scene or the actors that played in them, then you get a whole bunch of other fun questions, like a children's drawing of a movie scene that slowly gets drawn out, or photos from a movie that get revealed on by one. The quicker you are able to figure out what the scene is, the more points you get for the correct answer. Because of the game, we also got to see how the new NXE avatars fit into the whole scheme of things and on the whole, they seemed to do their job just fine, with nothing that special added but a nice touch at the end of the day, further softening up and the game and giving it a more casual feel. At the end of the day, we sat down to just see how the game was. So we tried to play through another round and then another and another until we had to force ourselves to put it down. The truth is that the game is actually a lot of fun to pretty much anyone who has ever watched a couple of movies in their life, and that's pretty much all of us isn't it? With games like this popping up, boardgames better start watching themselves because a game like this makes for a really wonderful social event with some friends and family.

Gears of War 2 – Multiplayer Level Montage

By Nick De Bruyne

Only 4 sleepies left until Gears of War 2 hits the shelves and indeed most of our disc drivers. To help ease the pain of the wait, or for that matter, possibly make it worse, we have a montage of a lot of the multiplayer maps, courtesy of IGN. The wait is almost finally over for the sequel to Microsoft's big hit of 2006. The only thing easing my pain at the moment is the barrage of big titles that came out this previous weekend.

I hope someone from Sony is paying attention this morning as a new fan based PS3 advert has hit the Internet and it is far better than the This Is Living series that was previously aired by Sony. Granted it needs a bit of fine tuning but it gets you excited about the console and what you can do with …
