Movie games rule!

By James

Actually, movie games usually suck – unless you are like a few of my friends, who love anything that requires little more than hitting one of two buttons. But there have been a few gems, some of which I am pretty fond of. Still, 25 great movie games? Slobs of Gaming feel that such a list is possible, providing they dig …

Mirror's Edge: First in-game footage

By Nick De Bruyne

Ok, this game is looking really hot. The developers of Mirror's Edge said that they really wanted to make a game that emphasised what it would be like to really play a game from a first person perspective, and to make things even more interesting, Parkour (also known as Urban Running) is involved. The first in-game footage was shown off at the Sony Press Conference in London and I have to say that it's looking really great, if you are able, do yourself the favour of checking it out in HD. Eat your heart out, Altair.

Killzone 2 delayed, no in-game XMB mentioned?

So these are the two biggest stories coming out of the EU PlayStation day. The much anticipated in-game XMB was not mentioned at all even though Sony knows it is a highly anticipated feature. Honestly I feel this one thing is the biggest reason why Xbox Live is still the superior online service and is not currently being challenged by …

Xbox Live: GTA IV on top

By Nick De Bruyne

Now, this might not surprise you, but GTA IV is currently the most played game on Xbox Live. See for yourself: GTA IV Call of Duty 4 Halo 3 Guitar Hero III Gears of War Rock Band Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Vegas 2 Iron Man Demo FIFA 08 Forza Motorsport 2 It does however surprise me. Sure the game has sold tons of copies, but with the single player element being so incredibly strong and with die hard fans of COD4 and Halo 3 still going strong, I didn't think that it would make it right to the top. The real question at hand is how long it will stay up there. The multiplayer sure is a lot of fun but I feel that a lot of gamers will slowly start making their way back to their favourite online T-bag fests over the next two weeks. It's really great to see that GTA's multiplayer element was built so well as developers usually leave it as an afterthought, especially when it comes to games like GTA IV where so much time and effort has been put into the games single player campaign. I hope that other developers take a serious hint from this and realise that building a strong multiplayer element to their game can increase both the sales and longevity of their product. I can only hope that the developers of Prototype, who have cancelled the games multiplayer to focus on the single player, are taking a long hard look at statistics like these.
