I’m going to be dead honest with you here: I have no idea what Left Alive is even about. What I do know, is that it has cover art from Yoji Shinkawa, so my interest is automatically activated and aroused. That’s some damn good art right there. According to Square Enix, Left Alive is an “upcoming survival shooter set in the Front Mission universe”.

Yakuza shouldn’t be as popular as it is today, when you compare it to the trends of the industry. It’s a series of games that requires you to spend more time watching its story unfold than actually steering it, it has little to zero DLC after each game ends and the core mechanics between the various sequels barely change, even when they’re given a fresh face-lift with the Kiwami upgrades. And yet, Yakuza does gangbusters in the West.

Even with some heavyweight talent behind them, Microsoft is still likely to struggle in one market that has always been a Sony and Nintendo stronghold: Japan. Team green has never truly managed to establish a beachhead in the land of the rising sun, with weekly sales of the Xbox One being utterly dismal in comparison to any other gaming hardware sold there. That might change with the next generation of Xbox consoles.
