After 35 years, Sony's Kaz Hirai is finally calling it a day and hanging up his blazer as he prepares to bid farewell to the company that he helped transform into an industry titan.

Ubisoft wants to keep The Division 2’s servers full with a constant supply of fresh content that won’t take a whole year to get right. They’re planning to throw a few spanners into the game from as early as next week, when the first major update rolls out and ups the difficulty ante as the focus shifts towards the endgame space.

This month, PlayStation Plus is a bit of a mixed bag. There’s only two games to grab, two titles that cater towards a more masochistic market: The Surge and Conan Exiles.

2017’s Wolfenstein: The New Colossus was a fab return for BJ Blazkowicz with some neat twists of its own, keeping the chunky gunplay intact and giving players a surprisingly tender hero caught in an unwinnable war. It’s a couple of years later, BJ’s family has grown and he’s ready to pass on the torch to the next generation of resistance fighters. A battle that will continue in Wolfenstein: Youngblood on July 26.

Gollum from the Lord of the Rings is tragic, that’s for certain. He’s also mentally unstable and prone to violence. So how do you even begin to make a video game about him? That’s the challenge that Daedalic Entertainment have on their hands with the character, but the studio reckons that they’ve got a neat idea on how to approach the idea of Gollum for some good ol’ video game storytelling.

Seriously though, this looks great, I want those other three games.

Electronic Arts has announced that 350 people from their marketing, publishing and operations teams are expected to get the axe in the coming days as the company looks to restructure itself to meet new challenges in publishing video games.

Arguably the most iconic character in the Lord of the Rings universe, the once peaceful hobbit Sméagol turned foul creature Gollum, will be featuring in his very own game soon, developed by Daedalic Entertainment.
