The Hateful Eight opens locally in little over two weeks, but I’m still not sure if I’m going to watch it. There was a time when a Quentin Tarantino movie was an automatic reason to rush to the big movie house. But I’m not sold on this new film’s concept: a single room thriller with lots of talking. That sounds …
This past weekend I was at the cinema to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens again (still amazing the second time around by the way), and while I was waiting in line for my popcorn I saw a poster for a movie that’s coming out in two weeks’ time: Norm of the North. What struck me as weird is that …
Spider-Man! Spider-Man! Does whatever a spider can! And apparently what that is is get rebooted every couple of years. We’ve already seen two different versions of the wallcrawler on our screens – four if you count the cheesy-bad 1977 made-for-TV movie and the bonkers Japanese Spiderman (he has a giant mech named Leopardon for no reason at all!) – but …
Alright, alright, alright! The McConnaissance may have taken a slight breather after last year’s Interstellar but it’s getting right back into the swing of things in 2016 with Free State of Jone. Written and directed by four-time Oscar nominee Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Seabiscuit), the upcoming historical action drama sees Matthew McConaughey take on the real-life role of Newt …
In case you haven’t noticed, with the exception of Ant-Man, Marvel’s movies all just keep on getting bigger and bigger. Even if you exclude all the superhero/villain cameos, Avengers: Age of Ultron still boasted 12 major characters. And despite only one hero’s name in the title, Captain America: Civil War is pretty much Avengers 2.5 as it boast just about …
So way back on December 21, 1970 the biggest rock star on the planet, Elvis Presley, initiates a meeting with then President of The United States Of America, Richard Nixon. His motivation for arranging this meeting? Elvis wants Nixon to make him a Federal Agent At Large. No, really. Elvis seriously considers himself Agent material and Nixon is looking for …
11.22.63 – or more descriptively, the 22 November 1963 – lives on in American history as the day that President John F Kennedy was assassinated, and it is one of those events that had so much controversy and conspiracy theories around it that Hollywood has never lost its fascination with it. And it’s about to get another chance to be …
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out “WHAAAAT?!!” and were suddenly silenced. I fear something surprising has happened. Leonardo DiCaprio already had a great weekend as he claimed the Golden Globe for Best Actor – Drama last night, but it seems that the universe decided to give him an even more …
A spooky European village. Properly scary castle mania. Vampires. Werewolves! The only thing more frightening, is a glimpse at your empty bank account when it comes to deciding whether or not you can grab Resident Evil Village this month. Capcom's successor to its long-running survival-horror franchise is finally out, and if you've read our review then you know the game is a winner on multiple levels.
