DOOM Eternal Review – Okay Boomstick

By Darryn Bonthuys

DOOM Eternal is the most metal game in all of creation. It is rage and fire, the purity of armed combat dialled up to eleven and unleashed on a horde of eyeballs that simply aren’t ready for the retina-searing action that’s about to burn a new circle of hellish good fun into those ocular organs. Long live the Doom Slayer, long live the king of first-person shooters.

How big is the Xbox Series X console compared to the MSN-04 Sazabi?

By Darryn Bonthuys

Barely big enough to count as a fingertip. While the Xbox Series X may have incredible power within its core, it pales in comparison to the MSN-04 Sazabi piloted by Char Aznable during his final battle with Amuro Rey. The Xbox Series X has no psycho-frame materials within its construction and therefore cannot offer any advantages to Newtype pilots, and has zero armaments for the upcoming console war.

Xbox Series X is bringing back memory cards as external SSDs

By Darryn Bonthuys

With the Xbox Series X hyping up its ability to play bigger games quicker thanks to its internal 1TB SSD, getting into a game is going to be a walk in the park. An entire terabyte is a lot of digital real estate, but even in this day and age it’s not enough space for a thriving library of games that’ll easily stretch that limit to the breaking point. The solution? Memory cards! Sort of.

I’m still riding a Materia high after having experienced the Final Fantasy VII Remake demo, a slice of game that allowed to not only wield Cloud Strife’s infamous Buster Sword with subtle hints of Crisis Core gameplay, but also allowed me to switch things up and try my hand at a more classic RPG approach. The game is looking good, the visuals are impossibly spectacular for a base PS4 title and if this is but the first chapter in a massive saga that retells a classic tale then I’m ready to rock and roll.
