Next week sees the launch of the Monster Hunter World beta, which thankfully won’t tax your monthly bandwidth too much. Here’s a quick breakdown on the basics for PS Plus members.
Successful Doomfist players know that the key to victory lies in closing the gap between any and all opposition. A feat which has become more and more difficult as of late and pretty much non-existent in competitive circles. The primary problem? Doomfist’s pool of health is a mere 250compared to some of the other heavy characters in Overwatch, his cooldown between special moves leaves him open to vicious counterattacks and sacrificing range for damage doesn’t always guarantee a quick kill. Problems that Blizzard are looking to nerf as they begin tweaking the punchtastic villain.
There isn’t much to recommend here for anyone who has already experienced an Alolan vacation in last year’s Pokémon Sun and Moon, but for everyone else? Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is easily the definitive remix of that tropical adventure and a fitting final hurrah to the handheld that defined several Pokémon generations.
In the days of yore, Nintendo had Mario, SEGA had Sonic, and PlayStation had Crash Bandicoot – but the PC’s never really been considered a home for platforming games, despite having some great ones. The early 90’s say games like GODS, Duke Nukem, Commander Keene and Jill of the Jungle grace PCs – but one of my favourites from the era is Epic Megagamaes’ Jazz Jackrabbit.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The faux trees that have been set up since July are finally selling, the roads are deadlier than ever and every coastal city on the East and West coast is prepping itself for an influx of bare-footed Joburgers in shopping malls. Tis also the time of deals when it comes to video games, something that has become an annual tradition with Sony and their PlayStation platform. This year, Sony is kicking off its 12 Deals of Christmas with a blast from the past: Crash Bandicoot.
Maybe you’re stuck at work and can only log in later tonight to spend some of your legendary shards on new armour and weapons in Destiny 2. In that case: Where is Xur?
A whole new world to explore, Shining, shimmering splendid. Tell me Guardian, now when did you last let your heart decide? New autorifles can open your eyes, open up Vex loot plunder by plunder. Over Mercury and under on a magic Sparrow ride! Here’s a quick look at some of the gear that’ll be popping up in that first Destiny 2 expansion DLC, while I dodge the raid boss known as Disney’s copyright division.
Free Games! Hurry up and grab The Bureau: XCOM Declassified from Humble right now. Released in 2013, it was a semi-tactical squad shooter set in the 1960’s that had government agents fighting aliens. IS it a great game? No! But you can't argue with free.
A spooky European village. Properly scary castle mania. Vampires. Werewolves! The only thing more frightening, is a glimpse at your empty bank account when it comes to deciding whether or not you can grab Resident Evil Village this month. Capcom's successor to its long-running survival-horror franchise is finally out, and if you've read our review then you know the game is a winner on multiple levels.
