Fallout 76, the much-maligned, post-apocalyptic online RPG from Bethesda is finally getting human NPCs in the new Wastelander update. The game was heavily criticised for not featuring any human non players when it was released, with Bethesda hoping that real players would pick up that slack. Instead, the world, populated as it is with robots, felt empty, despite being a multiplayer shindig.

Cyberpunk 2077 won’t have “tasteless sexualised violence”

By Darryn Bonthuys

Cyberpunk 2077 has a wordlwide rollout planned for September, but there’s one market that its content may run afoul of the law: Australia. Infamous for its heavy-handed censorship programs that have seen many a game refused a “G’day mate” and a legal release, Cyberpunk 2077’s inclusion of sexualised violence and hard drugs may soon see history repeat itself.

The mystery port on the back of the Xbox Series X could be for very expensive CFExpress

If you’ll recall the leaked prototype of the Xbox One X, there’s a weird mystery port on the back of the device. Many, myself included, surmised that it might be for debugging purposes, and not included on the final retail machine. Others hoped it would be for some sort of external storage expansion. I did not think it would be for this, because I know that it’s not an especially deep port, so it’s unlikely to be able to house an M2 NVMe drive. It looks like it won’t have to.

You know what’s the best part of the dawn before a new console generation? All those delicious rumours which precede the launch of said devices. Microsoft currently has a leg up on Sony with last year’s unveiling of their mini Borg cube, the Xbox Series X. With a month having already been chipped out of the year that is 2020, Sony’s current strategy seems to be one of hype and tight deadlines as nary a peep regarding the PS5 has been seen so far.

Nvidia’s GeForce NOW cloud streaming exits beta – and it should make Stadia worry

By Geoffrey Tim

Stadia’s just been dealt another kick in the teeth. Nvidia’s officially launched its GeForce Now streaming platform. It’s a similar service in that it allows players to stream games they buy through GeForce now from just about any PC, removing the need for expensive hardware. As with Stadia it’s a tiered service. There’s a free tier that lets you access your games from anywhere, but limits game sessions to just an hour. There’s a $5 per month service that gives you priority access and extended session length, but also uses top tier hardware in the cloud, even enabling advanced features like RTX.
