Whether it’s an indie project such as Celeste or a large experience such as God of War, video games in the last decade alone have reached a new benchmark in delivering mature and emotional writing to you the player. It’s just a pity that the Writer’s Guild of America doesn’t see it that way.

After a weird soft launch, Call of Duty mobile is finally available to all and sundry. I gave it a spin last night, and to my surprise, it’s a superbly polished, fun take on Call of Duty’s multiplayer formula. Yes, of course it’s riddled with microtransactions and grind, but that’s expected and perfectly fine for a free to play game. It’s already off to a seriously strong start.

It’s reaching the point where I want to just start a weekly “Gearbox Lawsuits Weekly” column, but honestly, I wouldn’t have the space to cover it all.

Could Untitled Goose Game grace other platforms in the future though? Maybe!

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is out today, though it’s been in a sort of early access for those who purchased the game’s most expensive editions. During that period, it was found that the game is stuffed with all manner of egregious microtransaction. To be fair to Ubisoft, the situation’s been blown out of proportion for the most part, as just about everything that can be bought – and it’s all cosmetic nonsense – can be earned in-game. There were, however also a few of Ubisoft’s favourite needless microtransactions: Time savers.
