A little while back, Sony appropriated a Nintendo-esque way of showing the world its upcoming games. When Nintendo stopped doing great big E3 press conferences, they opted to show off their impending wares through pre-made videos in a segment called Nintendo Direct. Sony started doing the same thing, calling it State of Play. And there’s a new State of Play later this week!

The only confirmed character at present is wizened wizard Shang Tsung, with Mortal Kombat movie actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa reprising his role. The list includes more than just returning Mortal Kombat characters though, with Terminator, Joker and Spawn also apparently coming to the game. The Evil Dead’s Ash Williams is also on that list, but according to Ash actor Bruce Campbell, the rumour isn’t true. Making the entire list of DLC seem dubious, Campbell quashed rumours of Ash’s inclusion.

Wonder Boy’s one of those games I grew up playing in arcades, because I had 20c pieces that needed a new home. That original game was adapted to home systems as Adventure Island, whil the Wonder Boy series split off into more action-RPG fare, but I still adore the original game, which featured and Island kid, sometimes on a skateboard, collecting apples and throwing his stone hatchet at wayward snails.
