Weekend Box Office Report 7-9 July 2017: Here comes your friendly neighbourhood box office champion Spider-Man!

These days Hollywood treats reboots like Ophrah Winfrey treats her audiences - everyone gets one. Now we have The Grudge to not look forward to all over again.

With a deck stacked against it in a genre that produces more turds than diamonds, producer Adi Shankar was talking big about Netflix’s stab at Konami’s Dracula mythos when Castlevania was first announced as an upcoming animated series. This wasn’t just going to be a quick spin-off with a few flashy fight scenes, but rather the best damn R-rated vampire-slaying adaptation ever made. Shankar wasn't lying.

The next film from the DC library revives the style of Batman: The Animated Series with its breakout star, Harley Quinn. A team-up between Batman, Nghtwing and Harley Quinn to put a stop to Poison Ivy and the Floronic Man’s latest world domination plans, it looks alright. Or better than Batman: The Killing Joke at least, which set a bar so low last year that you can’t even limbo underneath it. That particular film is out n August 15. After that? A more Victorian slice of Batman, as it looks like the cult classic 1989 Elseworlds graphic novel is finally getting some animated love.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is an amazing film. It's also stuffed full of blink-and-you-miss-it Easter eggs for both longtime Spider-Man fans and those audience members eagle-eyed enough to spot them.

The WWE’s latest pay per view kicked off last night from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Big matches complemented by some solid feuds were on the card for the night. Here’s the quick hits straight out of Texas of what went down at Great Balls of Fire.
