Lootboxes (and their associated microtransactions) are a contentious issue. While many appear to have no issues at all with the systemsome find them analogous to gambling. In Belgium, any sort of gambling - digital or not - needs to have a permit from the country’s gaming commission. They’re now investigating whether Star Wars Battlefront II (and Overwatch) lootboxes are akin to gambling.

Sure, it’s sold like madness, and it’s a pretty damned great game – but it had more than a few server issues at launch, which prompted developer Sledgehammer to yank a few features just to get the game running properly. They also transitioned to P2P after launch to keep things stable. Dedicated servers have now returned.
