Nintendo kicked it off with their NES, and later a SNES -and we’ve since seen diminutive Mega Drives, miniaturised Neo Geo arcades and next month, Sony will be releasing its own mini PlayStation. The PlayStation 4 is now five years old and, if the rumours are correct, will soon be entering the twilight of its lice cycle. With Sony skipping gaming bonanza E3 entirely next year, it’s likely that we’ll see the next PlayStation in 2020. In the meantime Sony is celebrating the successes its had with the current console generation.

Developer NetherRealm kickstarted a new tradition with the rebirth of their prime franchise, as the studio would alternate their work on not only Mortal Kombat but also their superhero showdown brawler Injustice. 2011’s Mortal Kombat was followed by the first Injustice game, while Mortal Kombat X saw the second Injustice game arrive hot on its heels. So where’s Mortal Kombat 11 then? According to some rumours, it’s due for a reveal very soon.

CDPR admits that Thronebreaker’s GoG exclusivity didn’t work out

Thronebreaker is now available to buy on Steam after a very short period of exclusivity on CDPR’s own GoG. Speaking in an earnings call (via Eurogamer), joint-CEO Adam Kiciński admitted that the GoG exclusivity hasn’t really helped – and as a result, the game’s done far worse than CDPR had hoped.

Battlefield V has more release dates than a game should have. It was first available to those who subscribed to EA’s Origin Access Premier. Today, it becomes available to those who pre-ordered the shooter’s deluxe edition. Next week, it’ll become available to the general public, the unwashed, plebeian masses unwilling to pay extra for their games. Expect more games to do this.

Battlefield V is out today for those who purchased the fancy Deluxe Edition or bought the game through EA’s Early Access subscription systems. Those who’ve played it say it actually rather good. Our own Battlefield fan Kervyn is working his way through the game and its Grand Operations, and we’ll have a review as soon as we can. For those playing today, the game’s received its great big day one patch.
