When Microsoft first debuted the Xbox One X – then stilled called Scorpio – Phil Spencer stood on stage and said that the new machine would soon deliver high-end VR. Given the Xbox One and Ocukus Rift partnership, the assumption then was that th4e new machine would come to support the Rift in some way. When the Xbox One X was released, there was no mention of VR compatibility at all, though it was still something in the system’s pipeline. It looks like they've quietly ditched VR plans.

Both the Dutch and Belgian gaming authorities have found that loot boxes and their resultant item trades constitute a form of gambling, and the Dutch have put their foot down. They’ve slapped Valve with a bit of legal muscle suggesting that if they hadn’t fixed the “gambling” issue by yesterday, Valve might have been in a bit of legal hot water.

The conversation around cross-console play is one that continues, and was given a recent shot in the arm thanks to discovery that Fortnite accounts that have ever been tied to PlayStation accounts can’t be used on platforms other than PC and mobile. That’s right – if you’ve ever tied your Fortnite account to PSN, it can’t be used on Switch or Xbox One. Of course Sony’s not letting cross-platform play happen either.
