Just imagine it, the fine art of Aardman Studios, mashed together in an interactive experience that takes advantage of their quirky animation and storytelling. Apparently I’m not the only one that has been picturing that idea, as Aardman have also been entertaining that possible medium jump lately.

Without Curse of Osiris and Warmind, Destiny 2's latest DLC chapter Forsaken is unplayable. That’s extra cash for content that few players care for, something that Bungie has finally realised and have decided to press forward with a new solution: Make those expansions free…kind of.

The newest Command & Conquer game is a bit of an abomination. A mobile-only skirmish game, it’s a game that tries – and fails – to capture the essence of Command & Conquer. Since that games reveal, fans of the series have been pestering EA for a proper game in one of the most venerated real-time strategy franchises. We may be getting a mreaster of the old games.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is out today, and Activision and Treyarch did something courageous. Like Apple removing the headphone jack from its phones, Treyarch removed the single player campaign to focus on what they did best: deliver white-knuckled, hearth-thumping multiplayer. They’ve also doubled down on Zombies, and gone all in on Battle Royale, possibly giving players the best Battle Royale of the generation – or at the very least, the best militaristic Battle Royale. Sorry PUBG!

Next week’s Festival of the Lost will see players return to the sun-scorched lands of Mercury. Loot! Honour! Revenge! This year’s Festival of the Lost feels especially poignant, as the survivors of the Red War gather to remember the countless Guardians lost to the Red Legion invasion, as well as the recent death of Cayde-6 in Forsaken.

Darksiders may have lifted plenty of inspiration from The Legend of Zelda when it came to crafting a world that had been given an Apocalyptic Tombstone Piledriver, but when it came to combat the first two games were in a league of their own. War was a tank who could blitzkrieg through opponents, while Death was a more agile and surgical collection of mystical weapons when he faced entire armies on the battlefield. So what of Fury then? What makes this Horseman of the Apocalypse stand out?

Forza Horizon 4 launched on the Xbox One and PC last week, and it’s one heck of a game. Sure, it may not do anything especially new, but it takes the Horizon Festival formula and pretty much perfecting it. It’s now gone on to be the highest rated Xbox exclusive of the generation, though that’s not really saying too much given how few of them there have been.

I liked Assassin’s Creed Odyssey a lot, even though there’s very little Assassin’s Creed to it. It’d becoming more and more of an RPG, which has many fans wondering if it would be better that the series splits off into two. I’m completely happy with the direction the series is going, and the more fantastical fun injected into the game (along with the historical setting), the better. Consumers, it seems, agree.
