As 2017 draws to an end, I can safely say that it’s been one of the best years in gaming. We’ve been hit with one stellar game after another, and it’s been a dizzying ride to the finish line. While amazing games have been coming out of all corners of the globe, I have to give a special mention to Japan as holy crap, the Land of the Rising Sun really brought out all their big guns. To have seen 3 Japanese games in the running for the Game Award’s GOTY nearly brought me to tears, and hell, one of those titles was a JRPG. As a massive fan of everything Japanese, I can end this year with a huge smile on my face, and looking back, these are my top 3 games of 2017.

Earlier this year, THQ Nordic shocked the gaming world by announcing an expansion to the old isometric diablo-like Titan Quest. Called Titan Quest: Ragnarok, the 2017 expansion came as such a shock, because the game was released in 2006. It looks like they’re not quite done with Titan quest yet. THQ Nordic has announced that the game will make its way to current gen consoles on 20 March 2018.

As with the first game, LocoRoco 2 Remastered is an unremarkable remaster of a delightfully charming game. The game’s bright and colourful visuals pop in higher resolutions, and the music comes to life through bigger speakers than the PSP offered. It’s a pity that like other PSP remasters, the cut scenes are a blurry mess, but that’s a minor complaint.
